A Global Cooperation Space

ICGE-2027 convenes global leaders, researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals, development partners, civil society organizations, and emerging voices from across continents to collectively shape the future of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), maternal health, and sustainable development.

Hosted in Uppsala, Sweden—a city globally recognized for academic excellence, research, innovation, and international cooperation, the conference provides a unique platform for knowledge exchange, strategic partnerships, and collaborative action on shared global challenges and opportunities.

Over three days, the conference will facilitate evidence-informed dialogue, knowledge exchange, and strategic partnership-building across sectors and regions, fostering collaborative action to address some of the most pressing challenges and emerging priorities in SRHR, maternal health, and sustainable development.

Aligned with Agenda 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the conference advances evidence-informed policy dialogue, promotes cross-regional partnerships, and supports innovative approaches to healthcare systems, maternal wellbeing, and sustainable development, contributing to a more resilient, equitable, and inclusive future.

3. Climate and Health ResilienceClimate-responsive health systems, maternal wellbeing, nutrition security, and adolescent SRHR.
Focus: Climate adaptation, resilient health systems, nutrition, environmental determinants of health, and climate-sensitive SRHR programming.
4. Adolescent and Youth LeadershipYouth participation, mentorship, leadership pathways, and innovation ecosystems.
Focus: Youth engagement, intergenerational leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation, policy participation, and capacity strengthening.
5. Health, Gender and SexualitiesAdvancing inclusive approaches to health, rights, wellbeing, equity, and social justice across diverse populations and contexts.
Focus: Gender-responsive health systems, intersectionality, gender norms, sexualities, inclusion, rights, and health equity.

Carolina Överlien

Professor of Gender-Related Violence and Health, Uppsala University

Carolina Överlien is Professor of Gender-Related Violence and Health at Uppsala University and a leading international researcher on domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and the experiences of children and young people affected by violence. Her work has significantly advanced research, policy, and practice at the intersection of violence, health, and wellbeing.
